My association with Puerto Rico got off to a rocky start, thanks mostly to my ignorance: when I first agreed to meet my sister in San Juan for Thanksgiving, I had no idea what I was getting into. I expected an indolent long weekend sprawled on a beach with little to do. It didn't take long for Puerto Rico to show me how wrong I was. This island offers something for everyone. Its history runs deeper than that of Jamestown; its ecological blend of tropical rainforest and sun-splashed beaches cannot be found anywhere in the U.S.; and its ability to entertain ... well, if you're bored here, it will probably be your fault.
We have history, Puerto Rico and I. I've traveled to the island as a visitor, as a writer on assignment, and as a member of a Puerto Rican family. I've seen my sister get married in Old San Juan. And I hope this site helps you discover the Puerto Rico I know and love.
