Where to Eat Near Miller Park

While tailgating at Milwaukee Brewers’ home games at Miller Park is a popular option, sometimes, you just don’t want to tote a grill, cooler, meat, and other items.

Fortunately, there are quite a few restaurants near the stadium perfect for small groups to grab a bite before or after the game. The stadium is 10 minutes west of downtown Milwaukee near the Miller Parkway exit off of Highway I-94. You will find restaurants catering from Creole to chic, and here's where to go.

Lovers of wine like to come here because attached to the restaurant is a retail space selling wine. Open a bottle at your table and pay just a $10 corkage fee above the retail price. There are many bottles that cost $20 and under.

On the food menu are a mix of items that range from small plates to larger-portion entrées and clearly marked as such. As a farm-to-table eatery, many ingredients—from eggs to honey, and cheese, too—are locally sourced.

An all-day favorite is Shakshouka, an Israeli dish with eggs baked in cumin-spiced tomato sauce. Some of the lunch items are the sausage-and-shroom flatbread and smoked-duck and pear salad. For dinner, there’s a Wisconsin cheese plate and Schupfnudel & Trotters entrée (chicken leg and thigh, oyster mushrooms, chicken cracklings, and baby kale), among other items.

Locals know that the happy hour (from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays) is when the real steals are—like $1 oysters and a buck off drinks, fried-green tomatoes, and peel-and-eat shrimp—but even post-game you won’t be disappointed.

The menu is inspired by coastal Louisiana cuisine (think fresh-shucked raw oysters, New Orleans BBQ shrimp, jambalaya, and catfish, with sides of red beans and rice) and has a lot of pairing options in terms of wine, craft beer, and cocktails (like a refreshing Mint Julep).

Vegetarians will be pleased to know there are lots of choices, including vegetarian jambalaya and a BBQ organic-tofu sandwich. Much of the menu’s ingredients are sourced from local farms.
