Dressing up for a party is fun. But dressing up as a pirate or something exotic can be really fun. I've been fortunate enough to work for companies and with clients who supported dressing up for Halloween. The best-dressed award went to one team who dressed as characters from the TV show Gilligan's Island -- one member even baked a coconut pie. Props are everything.
DFW has some great places to shop for your next Halloween party. Shop early while selections are best. Happy haunting!

Fort Worth: Magic Etc / Ft Worth Costume
Magic etc / Ft Worth Costume has expanded its facility to meet the demands of the Halloween crowd. The business has recently doubled its warehousing capacity and tripled its administrative support footage. The additional space became available when the adjoining business, Hangman’s House of Horrors, relocated to a new site in north Fort Worth.
Halloween brings the highest level of costume and related retail activity to the shop, followed closely by Christmas and Easter. The store is open seven days a week year round, catering to a vast array of creative needs from theme parties and corporate events, to professional shows and school productions. The shop carries both rental and retail costumes, accessories, wigs, masks, all of the major theatrical makeup lines, small props, lighting, sound, and magic. The store also stocks a large array of DJ gear, sound, lighting and special effects equipment, and is home to a monthly gathering of area magicians.
Especially beneficial to customers is the shop’s “try before you buy” approach to costuming which enables proper sizing and fit, plus the opportunity to accessorize and fully develop a character. Full-time, professionally-trained staff guides customers through the abundant inventory. Demonstrations are offered as invaluable teaching tools for makeup application, magic techniques, and lighting design.
Magic etc / Ft Worth Costume is located at 2007 North Forest Park Boulevard, at the corner of I-30 and Forest Park Boulevard, one mile west of downtown Fort Worth. The shop is open year round Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. During October, hours are extended to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
