Waxy O'Connor's is London's biggest Irish bar. It's close to Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Chinatown so very centrally located.

Not Small

From the outside you might think it's just a small cafe or bar but, goodness, this place needs to be seen to be believed. Head on inside as it is enormous! Never suggest to friends you will meet them at the bar at Waxy O'Connor's as you will need to decide on which bar inside in advance.

This place is truly cavernous and even has a massive tree trunk running through the middle of it!

And once you are all in and seated, be sure of your route back when you go in search of the toilets.

Six Levels

Waxy O'Connor's has six levels and four unique bars. This place is a labyrinth with a maze of staircases and passages. Because it's not one big room it can still feel cozy, especially with the low ceilings on some levels.

Waxy's really is a special venue to sink a few pints of Guinness - and the food's good too.

Music & Sport

As you would expect from an Irish Bar, music is important at Waxy O'Conner's and there are live bands on many nights of the week. At other times there are '90s tunes that keep the crowd happy.

This is also an official London Rugby Pub so they can show the matches and also offer match tickets and have special London Irish events and promotions.

There's a relaxed vibe here which makes it a popular bar with locals and visitors.

It's certainly a pub with character.

Harry Potter's Church?

The interior brings to mind the timber carvings in a Catholic church with pulpits overlooking the bottom bar, stained glass windows, church pews and rustic wooden seats. The hidden nooks and crannies remind some of something they've seen in a Harry Potter movies such as the secrecy of Diagon Alley.

But there's nothing sinister here as it's a really fun and quirky place for a drink with friends.

To add to the 'decor like no other' there's also a beech tree inside the pub which many don't initially see as there's so much going on in here.
