It's possible to have a birthday party at a water park in Albuquerque, and depending on your needs, you'll find something that works. Although one option is open only in the summer, two provide year round fun. Albuquerque water park birthday parties can range from simple to elaborate.
Some have water slides, and it's possible to have birthday parties at any pool location. But West Mesa has an indoor water park with a tall slide and a wading pool with splash structures, buckets and more.
Parties at the West Mesa Aquatic Center are made on a first come, first served basis. West Mesa Parties must have a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 18 children. West Mesa is open year round, so if your party takes place from fall to spring, parties are able to have more than 18 guests, but it must meet with prior approval. Parties take place during public hours only. Price is $1.50 per person, and for guests, the host doesn't pay for, there is a discount if the party name is noted at the front desk. Make your reservation by calling (505) 836-8718, ext. 0.
In summer only, Cliff's Amusement Park has birthday parties that can include the water park. The water park at the Hotel Cascada offers families the chance to celebrate birthday parties without booking a sleepover. Kids get to swim with friends, adults can swim if they like or choose not to, and everyone can join the birthday fun.
Like birthday parties at other indoor entertainment venues, an area is set aside for the birthday child. Families can bring in a birthday cake (no candles). No other food or drink can be brought in, though the package comes with two slices of pizza per participating child and unlimited beverages. The party lasts for five hours. The package requires a minimum of 10 swimmers for the party package and includes a party attendant.
The water park is 30,000 square feet of water bliss for kids. There are slides, tubes, a lazy river, an interactive play structure with tipping bucket, and an indoor/outdoor whirlpool spa. One of the main attractions is the FlowRider wave simulator. Kids get on boogie boards and go down the slope while powerful jets create never ending waves. They can "surf" standing or lying on their stomachs.
There are other fun areas for kids to hang during the party. There is a game arcade, an Art studio where they can create pottery, an area to create stuffed animals and a make your own tin in a Tin Smith shop.
There is a snack shop as well.
A minimum of 10 people is needed for the birthday party. There is a requirement of one chaperone for every 10 children attending, and there is no charge as long as the chaperone doesn't swim. Otherwise, the chaperone also pays full price. A waiver must be signed by anyone who wants to participate in the FlowRider. An area of tables and chairs will be reserved for your birthday group.
Private outdoor cabanas are available for an extra charge, as well as indoor meeting rooms.
The water park is open Fridays from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Saturday overnight guests.
