School District at a Glance

In 2017, there were 63,919 students enrolled in the Washoe County School District, the highest number since the 20082009 school year when there were 63,282 students enrolled.

That number dipped to 62,220 in the 20112012 school year, then increased to the current high of 63,919.

Current enrollment is almost equally divided between males and females, with slightly fewer females. Ethnically, by far the largest group identifies itself as "multiracial," closely followed by white, then hispanic. Smaller numbers of students identify themselves as Asian, African American, American Indian, and Pacific Islander, in that order. Of total students enrolled, 77 percent graduated in 2016, which represents a steady improvement from 62 percent in 2010.

Washoe County School District overall fosters a "culture of respect," in response to a survey of executives and employees. The district prohibits bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination.
