Warsaw, Poland - which has taken great risks in holding a Gay Pride event in recent years because of order not to do so from homophobic former president of Poland, Lech Kaczynski - hosted EuroPride not long ago. This was an especially exciting and crucial moment for GLBT rights not only in Poland but in Eastern Europe more broadly, and the large turnout helped shed light on gay and lesbian issues in this somewhat conservative country. Warsaw Gay Pride takes place in mid-June - the date for 2016 is Saturday, June 11.
