    This glamour resort is generally considered the highest-end hotel in Wailea. The resort was Hawaii's first hotel with five diamonds from AAA and five stars from Forbes and is now one of four five-star hotels in the Aloha State, and the only one in Wailea. In 2017, Condé Nast Travelers Readers' Choice Awards crowned this property "#1 Hotel on Maui." 

    The resort's 383 rooms, beautifully refreshed in 2016, begin at a massive 600 square feet. All rooms have indulgent bathrooms and  lanai terraces, and most have ocean views. The feeling is luxurious and modern — what you'd expect from a Four Seasons property — but with subtle Hawaiian flavor.

    As in all Four Seasons brand hotels and resorts, service is exceptional. The resort has curated a choice of Unforgettable Experiences. One involves helicoptering to a hidden coffee plantation for a life-changing pot of java and creating your own private blend. The resort appeals to couples fall is the value-added Couple Season).     A Very Big and Very Famous Resort

    This popular hotel, a member of the Waldorf Astoria brand, is Wailea's best-known resort. It just knows how to make visitors happy. Its standout kids' programs (and Wailea Canyon Discovery Pool) make it ideal for family getaways. (Adults have their choice of eight other pools including the nearly 5,000-square-foot Hibiscus Pool.) Destination wedding couples can exchange vows in a glorious non-denominational chapel built in pre-statehood Hawaiian style, and then kick off their marriage in style with a resort honeymoon.

    Grand Wailea offers a lot. And it is big, with nearly 720 rooms and 56 suites.  All accommodations are spacious, and were renovated in 2016 in sleek, contemporary resort style.

    The centrally set, 99-room Napua Tower is the hotel's VIP floor, with upgraded service, amenities, and a club lounge, and villas are set in the secluded Ho'olei esction. Dining spotlights the breeze-kissed Humuhumunukanukapuaa (insiders call it simply "Humu").

    Wailea's Design Hotel for the Style Crowd

    From the moment you spot Andaz Maui's "Arrival Lounge" lobby (shown above), you know that his great-looking property is the Wailea community's design hotel  Since greeting the world in 2013 with a design by hotel master David Rockwell, Andaz Maui has built an international reputation and hosts creative types from all over. (Book far ahead for rooms during the Maui Film Festival every June.)

    It is well-situated on Mokapu Beach on the northern end of Wailea, steps from the magnificent Wailea Coastal Walk that links Wailea's resorts. Although it has 290 rooms and suite, plus 10 villas, Andaz Maui feels like a personal boutique hotel, with one-on-one service and a sociable atmosphere. Not all accommodations have an ocean view, but every one is loaded with guest-pleasing amenities like a complimentary minibar of snacks and soft drinks.

    The resort's centerpiece js an impressive entrance hall set above sparkling koi ponds. A cascading pool complex with cabanas and bars is the resort's social hub. Andaz Maui caters to its young and young-at-heart clientele with an impressive roster of fitness options including a gym's worth of classes such as Pilates and yoga.     With So Much to Do at This Resort, Don't Forget Its Perfect Beach

    Wailea Beach Resort - Marriott, Maui is a very special Marriott hotel. In 2016 it underwent a dramatic $100-million-dollar refresh, and is now full of wonderful things to do and see.

    One thing that hasn't changed is the resort's brilliant setting, considered by many Wailea-watchers the best hotel perch in the community. Wailea Beach Resort occupies a triangular buff with two distinct beaches and endless views of the Pacific, And many of guestrooms are very close to the water (as you can see in the photo).

    Guests can choose low-rise villa-style accommodations or a sleek tower with ample lanai balconies. All 547 guest rooms and suites were updated with a soothing Pacific palette, blond wood, and spa-like bathrooms.  

    Three pools offer a variety of aquatic fun: Maluhia Serenity Pool for adults; 'Ohi beachfront infinity pools; and NALU Adventure Pool, boasting four water slides including Hawaii's longest, dropping five and a half stories. (Guest 12 and under can also enjoy the expanded, cutting-edge Kolohe Keiki Club. Teens have GameSpace to themselves, and the whole family is invited to The Movie House.

    Resort dining showcases Humble Market Kitchin by Roy Yamaguchi, the world's most famed Hawaiian-born chef. Other food and beverage options include KAPA Bar & Grill, Whale's Tale café, Mo Bettah Food Truck and NALU Pool Bar.     Wailea Beach Villas total 98 individually owned and decorated luxury residences. The available villas are managed like a great hotel, Five-star hotel service covers personal welcomes, concierge, bellmen, and tech assistance, arrival gifts, golf-cart lifts, and much more.

    Villas have garden or ocean views, and are no more than a few minutes' walk to the resort's tropical pools and beach (some villas have plunge pools).

    Not a Hotel, Not a Condo, Just a Great and Moderately-Priced Place to Stay on Wailea

    I know you're thinking, "What's a Residence Inn doing in a luxury hotel story?" That's a good question. The answer is that this is like no other Residence Inn you know. For one thing, it' is the brand's first resort, and is already accruing nearly three-questers "excellent" reviews by TripAdvisor posters.

    Rooms are large, ranging from airy studios to suites with one or two bedrooms. Many rooms have ocean views. Every room has a complete kitchenette, making Residence Inn Maui ideal for relaxed family visits to Wailea.

    The hotel is neither a full-service hotel nor a condo, but a hybrid. Nor is it a beach resort; the sand is a very short walk away, and the Residence Inn pool is inviting.
