The Capital One Arena (formerly the Verizon Center) is located at 601 F Street, NW Washington, D.C. The 20,000-seat arena hosts a wide variety of events throughout the year, including concerts, family entertainment, and athletic games. The Verizon Center is located in the heart of Downtown DC, just north of the National Mall in the Penn Quarter neighborhood. It is surrounded by many great restaurants, museums, and popular attractions. 

The Capital One Arena occupies a whole city block. There are multiple entrances on 7th and F Streets NW.

Getting There

The closest Metro Station is Gallery Place/Chinatown. Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter, Metro Center, and Federal Triangle Metro stations are also within walking distance. There is some street parking available in the area, but this is a busy part of town in the heart of the city and spaces fill up quickly. There are plenty of parking garages near the Capital One Arena. Depending on the time of day, the day of the week, and events going on, you may be better off taking public transportation. 

Capital Bikeshare has docking stations located at 7th & F Sts NW in front of the National Portrait Gallery, at 9th & G St. NW in front of the MLK Library, at 8th and H Sts. NW and at 11th and F Sts. NW.

Events at the Capital One Arena often draw a large crowd and traffic may be congested around the arena. If you choose to drive, be sure to allow enough time to park your car. Here are driving directions from some of the major highways. 

Driving Directions to the Capital One Arena 

From Virginia: 

  1. Take I-395 N toward Washington
  2. Take the 12th St exit
  3. Merge onto 12th St SW
  4. Turn right at Constitution Ave NW/US-1
  5. Turn left at 6th St NW/US-1
  6. Arrive at the Capital One Arena 

From Maryland (Northwest of DC):

  1. Follow the Capital Beltway/I-495 South
  2. Take the George Washington Memorial Pkwy toward Washington
  3. Take the exit onto I-395 N toward Washington
  4. Take the 12th St exit
  5. Merge onto 12th St SW
  6. Turn right at Constitution Ave NW/US-1
  7. Turn left at 6th St NW/US-1
