Vanessa Dewson

• Vanessa is an award-winning freelance photographer and travel writer from Sudbury, Canada, a geological wonder north of the Great Lakes, and now calls Ottawa home.
• Vanessa loves a good road trip and is always looking forward to her next adventure, especially if it’s somewhere she’s never been before. 
• Vanessa is the founder of Focus on Photography Tours and hosts tours worldwide for anyone with a passion for photography who wants to hone their craft while learning more about the people and places that make this planet so special.

Experience

Vanessa has been published in several print and online travel publications and newspapers, including the Toronto Star, Extraordinary Experiences, Dreamscapes, and Pilgrim Magazine. She has won photography awards from the Professional Photographers of Canada and the Society of American Travel Writers’ Canadian Chapter.

From the time her grandmother invited her on a trip to Türkiye when she was 13, her feet haven’t stopped itching. She has been to 43 countries and counting, including living in Mauritius and South Africa.

Education

Vanessa has a Bachelor of Applied Arts in image arts from the Toronto Metropolitan University and a certificate in graphic design from Algonquin College in Ottawa.
