For some, the arrival of Valentine's Day can put the pressure on a relationship and the pursuit to find the perfect gift or arrange the ideal date can be exhausting. However, in Oklahoma City, there are many ways to keep things simple or go all out for your big date on Valentine's Day, whether that means planning a romantic picnic, catching a show, or something else.
If going to a movie seems a bit too unremarkable for a special Valentine's Day date, maybe you should take the evening's entertainment up a notch. After you make your dinner reservations, check out some of the live performances and shows that may be on during that night. In Oklahoma City, that typically means a concert at the Civic Center or a musical at OKC Broadway.
Take your sweetheart for a picnic at Lake Hefner or any of the other nearby lakes like Arcadia or Thunderbird. At Hefner, though, you'll find plenty of tables and open spaces and picturesque views of boats sailing on the lake. Many of Oklahoma City's parks like Scissortail Park and the Martin Park Nature Center also provide nice areas for picnicking.
If you think it's time for you and your date to start taking it easy, the spa is a wonderful place for a date. After all, who's going to turn down a massage with their beau?
You can book a couples massage at any of OKC's top spas like Sweet Mimosa or Three Graces. If that's not enough pampering for you, book a night at one of Oklahoma City's top hotels like the Colcord Hotel or the Ambassador Hotel for a romantic and luxurious night. Don't forget to pre-order room service in the morning if you want to wake up to breakfast in bed!
You can't usually go wrong with a movie or a show for Valentine's date, but maybe you want to do something different and take in a little culture. If so, consider visiting a museum before or after dinner. Oklahoma City has many great institutions like the Museum of Art and the Science Museum Oklahoma. Or, if your date is an animal lover, a trip to the OKC Zoo could be the perfect thing to change up your routine.
