RVers and dogs go together like peanut butter and jelly. RVers are outgoing, adventurous and love sharing their adventures with others, even if the other has four legs. If you’re looking for something that can match your love with RVing with the love for your furry friend look no further, I think we’ve found the perfect keepsake for you or gift for your favorite RVer. Let’s take a look at pet trailers by Straight Line Designs.

About Straight Line Designs

Straight Line Designs Inc. is the company of industrial designer Judson Beaumont. Beaumont was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1960. He studied art at Capilano College and finished his studies in 3D design at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 1985, forming Straight Line Designs in the same year.

Beaumont considers his inspiration to be making people question the objects around them.

“A person must dare to drift away from the tried and true to give a piece energy and interest. Be influenced and inspired by the norm, and then challenge it, change it, melt it, stretch it, alter it for the better."

Those words are straight from Beaumont himself, describing what he is aiming for.

About Pet Trailers

One of Beaumont’s creations that has gotten a lot of love from both RVers and art lovers are his pet trailers which can all be viewed at Beaumont’s website. There are currently seven models available to view at Beaumont’s website. All the current pieces are modeled after various travel trailers from all around the RV world.

Some trailers are designed to look like mini Airstream trailers and we can’t help notice that one trailer has a lot of similarities to the two tone Vintage Shasta trailer. It’s obvious that Beaumont has either spent a lot of time in the RV world or is close to a group of RVers.

The level of detail that Beaumont uses along with the practical applications make the pet trailers a one of a kind piece of work.  Even the front of the trailers are modeled to look like small propane tanks but serve a more practical purpose by acting as a pet’s food and water bowl while the inside of the trailer provides a natural refuge for your pet to escape into his own private world or catch some Zs.

Other features can include interior lighting, personalized license plates and more. There are currently seven designs listed on the website with funny and pet related names like Dog Gone and GRRRRRR. No word if the wheels on the tiny travel trailers are more functional or decorative.

Beaumont’s pet trailers are on the smaller side making them a great getaway for your Shih Tzu or Miniature Schnauzer but it doesn’t look like there are too many options for pet trailers that can accommodate any breed larger than a toy breed.

Currently Straight Line Designs does not provide an area of the website where pet trailers can be purchased but the website does have an area where you can get in contact with Straight Line and Beaumont to start making a pet trailer of your dog’s own. Custom pet trailers start around $800.

How we see it, anything that can bring our love of dogs and travel trailers together is a-okay in our book. Make sure to visit Straight Line Design’s website to get a peek at all the different pet trailer options. If you’ve got a small dog that loves RVing with you, these little trailers might be perfect.
