The Best Suites at Turnberry Isle Miami

The Style of Turnberry Isle Miami

Turnberry Isle Miami opened in 1971, and is designed in Florida's timeless Spanish-Mediterranean style. The property was thoroughly renovated in 2007, and a new tower wing was built. The resort was refreshed in 2011.

Today, the resort is a member of Autograph Collection, a luxury hotel association.

Rooms are quietly luxurious, very comfortable, and extremely quiet. They are decorated in soothing neutral tones. Furnishings are high-quality. Many rooms feature lounging balconies, and some have kitchenettes.

Standard room features are what you expect from a fine hotel: cushy bed, minibar, safe, iPod dock, spacious marble bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower.

The Top Pick of Turnberry Isle Miami's Rooms

I liked Turnberry Isle Miami's tranquil Tower Suites best. They are spacious, sunny, and handsomely modern. They're the kind of hotel rooms that improve your mood when you walk in.

    Service at Turnberry Isle Miami

Service at Turnberry Isle...MORE is variable, and not as high-quality as the resort's lodgings, activities, grounds, or dining. Overall, service falls short of an eagle-eyed luxury traveler's criteria for five-star hotel service.

Service is indeed irreproachable in Turnberry Isle's spa and its outstanding dining venues: Bourbon Steak, Cascata Grill, Laguna Grill, and Lobby Lounge.

But the nervous young staffers at the front desk aren't relaxed and flexible enough to make guests feel taken care of. And my housekeeper consistently disregarded the hotel-supplied card I left on the bed: "I'm green, please do not change my sheets." It's not easy being green.

Truly Wonderful Dining at Turnberry Isle Miami Resort

Turnberry Isle Miami Takes Guests' Dining Pleasure Seriously

Turnberry Isle offers outstanding dining to its guests and to Miami locals as well. The resort's food and beverage staff is strongly committed to quality and service.

Turnberry Isle's Chef's Garden, maintained by executive chef John Sexton and sous-chef Garrette Gray, grows much of the hotel's produce right on-property, and cultivates South Florida's only known allspice tree.

A trio of truffles would have sufficed as a "welcome amenity." But Turnberry's executive pastry chef Danny Malone took his time to create a masterpiece: an edible portrait of a horse etched in white and milk chocolate

Bourbon Steak, Turnberry Isle Miami's Marquee Restaurant

Bourbon Steak is a dazzling eatery that would enhance any luxury hotel. The restaurant is the creation of San Francisco-based celebrity chef Michael Mina, whose other restaurants distinguish luxury hotels like Four Seasons Baltimore.

What will delight...MORE you at Bourbon Steak:

A glamorous yet comfortable setting, with warm décor and a happy buzz
    Perfectly cooked prime steaks
Delightful side dishes, like Duck Fat Fries
    Excellent desserts to linger over
    The Burger Bar
    The weekday happy hour
The intriguing, global wine list, curated and served by inspired sommelier Justin Hall

Casual Dining Venues at Turnberry Isle Miami

Cascata Grill offers nicely made Mediterranean, Italian, and Florida favorites. Service is notably friendly, and diners can choose club-like indoor seating or on a patio overlooking a golf-course rock formation with trickling water

Laguna Grill, poolside at Laguna Pool, serves light fare swiftly and smilingly. Highlights: fresh-grilled shrimp salad, burgers, sweet potato fries

Beach Club Grill, at Turnberry Beach Club, serves salads, wraps, jerk chicken, and kids' dishes, all accompanied by Atlantic Ocean views
