Maybe it's your first day back at work or school, maybe it's your first day off after working all weekend, or maybe Mondays mean nothing special to you at all. No matter your relationship with this most maligned of days, Toronto has plenty of interesting things to do on Mondays, whether you're into music, comedy, karaoke, or trivia.

Monday Night Comedy

The ALTdot COMedy Lounge starts at 9pm at The Rivoli (334 Queen Street West).

Every week a different slate of stand-up comics takes to the stage for $8 per show in advance and $10 at the door. Sure, some weeks are better than others but it's always a good time with a great vibe. Check the website to see which comedians are in the coming lineup.

You can also check out live comedy on Monday nights at the Cameron House (408 Queen Street West), hosted by Jen Sakato & Dena Jackson. The Ossington (61 Ossington Ave.) is another bar that runs a Monday night comedy night. Booked shows start at 8pm and open mic sets start at 10pm. If you want to try your hand at some stand-up, you can sign up for an open mic slot at 5pm.

Monday Night Music

Want to hear what the local musical talent has to offer? Drop by an open stage for an evening of musical adventure and surprise.

The Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen Street West) is home to Shoeless Mondays, a free event featuring live music most Mondays starting at around 9 pm.

Other spots to get your live music fix on Mondays nights include The Rex Jazz & Blues Bar (194 Queen Street West) and Cameron House (in the front room).

If you prefer to be the one singing, head over to Sneaky Dee's (431 College Street) on a Monday night to show off your singing skills. The long-standing Toronto bar is home to Legends of Karaoke, which runs from 10 pm to 2 am.

There are over 15,000 songs to choose from so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a favorite to belt out.

Anyone in the mood for some post-punk can make a trip to The Beaver Cafe (1192 Queen Street West), which hosts Post-Punk Mondays every week starting at 10 pm.

Monday Night Trivia

If you feel like testing your general knowledge over a pint or two, you might want to head over to Clinton's Tavern (693 Bloor Street West) in Koreatown for their weekly Drinkin' & Thinkin' Pub Quiz. Trivia starts at 7:30 and admission is free.

Or you can make your way to Pour Boy Pub on Manning Ave. for Monday night trivia night, which starts at 8 p.m.

Another option for testing your knowledge on a Monday can be found at Stout Irish Pub, which holds Head Scratchers Pub Trivia every Monday and Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. If you feel like stopping by a bit earlier, "Hoppy Hour" runs from 4 to 6 pm.

Monday Night Drinks Deals

If your idea of fun on a Monday involves indulging in a post-work beer or two, there are a few options on Monday nights that will save you money. At Sneaky Dee's for example, sours and bar rail are just $4 and you can get 10 wings and a 60oz pitcher of beer for $24.

At Macho Radio Bar, you can sip on $5 margaritas on Monday nights alongside $10 chicken or chorizo fajitas.

H Bar offers a craft beer sampler of four 6-ounce pours for $8.50 every Monday.

Beaumont Kitchen over at Sherway Gardens Mall is where you can get a Monday night martini for just $7.

Or you can take advantage of Open Cellar Mondays over at the Gladstone Hotel for half priced bottles of wine beginning at 4 pm.
