A Halloween tradition now more than a decade in the making, Bennett's Curse includes six terrifying haunted houses in one complex: the Underworld, Legends of Halloween, Dante's Inferno in 3D, Coulrophobia (a clown-themed house), Ravenbrook Asylum, and Bennett's Curse. It is located just 15 minutes from Baltimore's city center.
Get ready for hours of fun and fear inside historic military bunkers used during the War of 1812. Walk through the woods of Fort Howard county park and a series of themed dungeons where you'll be confronted by costumed employees (and, perhaps, some resident spirits). Be sure to arrive early, as the park closes once the attraction reaches capacity. Fort Howard Haunted Dungeons has been open for 30 years, and in 2018, it will debut a haunted hayride and a blackout tour.
Tickets: $15 adults, $12 children
Jason's Woods may be farther away (it's 78 miles from Baltimore), but it's well worth the extra miles. This scary attraction in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, takes live actors, animatronics, special effects, and sound design to present five horrifying events. There's the haunted hayride, chamber of horrors, zombie apocalypse, a haunted trail walk, and a carnival of fear. A mystery maze and theater are also included in the ticket price. This haunted house might be more of a drive, but it really is the best place to get more scare for your buck.
Tickets: $25 for three attractions or $45 for five attractions (general admission); $40 for three attractions or $60 for five attractions (VIP admission); group rates available
