Downtown Long Beach is a popular nightlife center with most restaurants, bars, clubs, and live music venues located along Pine Avenue from 4th Street to the Pike and Shoreline Village. Venues close and move frequently, so check with the venue to make sure they're still open and at the same location. Dress codes apply at most places and at some clubs men are routinely patted down.

There's enough dance space for four couples to hit the floor comfortably, but who needs comfort when the music is good?

Shannon's on Pine

Some people refer to Shannon's on Pine as a dive bar, but it's not that divey (although it is cash only, a feature of many a dive bar). It is however a local hangout, where downtown residents gather to watch the weekend sports on the many TVs over a reasonably priced beer and a burger, rather than a trendy tourist spot.
