    Buena Vista Motor Inn

With and excellent staff and a great location, this Inn has all the simple pleasures you need. Streetside rooms at the Buena Vista Motor Inn can be noisy, try for a room that faces the rear.

    Geary Parkway Motel

When The Marina Motel is full - or priced higher than I would like, the Geary Parkway is a good alternative. It's a little outside the main tourist area on Geary Blvd. but has off-street parking and free WiFi. The staff is nice and friendly, and the rooms are clean.

The small parking lot sometimes fills up. If you have to park on the street, read the restrictions carefully to avoid getting an expensive ticket.

    Marina Motel

This cute, little old-fashioned motor court is one of my go-to spots for an overnight in San Francisco. Rooms in the interior courtyard are insulated from street noise, and you can park on the property.

All rooms are upstairs, and there are no elevators. Some rooms are pet-friendly, and some have small kitchens. WiFi is free.

During busy times, I have seen the prices for the Marina Motel edge up above the "cheap" level, but all the free extras still make it a good deal.

    San Remo Hotel

Guests say staying at the San Remo Hotel is like staying at your grandmother's house. Bathrooms are shared, but price and location make up for the inconvenience.

Parking is offsite, and there are no telephones in the rooms.
