Formerly known as The Booksellers at Laurelwood (and Davis-Kidd before that), this locally-run bookstore now called "Novel" in East Memphis has big plans for a third iteration set to open in late summer 2017. If it maintains many of the features of past versions, Novel will boast a knowledgeable staff, a children's department, an extensive section of books by local authors, a gift shop and a cafe.

    Barnes and Noble Bookstore

Barnes and Noble is a nationwide chain of stores and as such, lacks the charm of some of the local independent shops. However, being such a large store also offers some advantages. Barnes and Noble carries a huge stock of books and if they don't carry it, they can often order it for you. Plus, they have comfortable reading chairs and a nice coffee bar. Best of all, there are three locations in the Mid-South.
