Racing at Thistledown

Thistledown Race Track was founded in 1925, one of Ohio's first tracks. Today, the one-mile oval dirt track is owned by Magna Entertainment, who also owns Santa Anita Park and Pimlico Race Course.

Thistledown offers live thoroughbred racing every day from mid-April to mid-November. Post time is 105pm. In addition to the Ohio Derby (described below), the track is home to several important races, including the Angenora Stakes and the Cleveland Gold Cup.

The most important race on the Thistledown calendar is the Ohio Derby, run each June. The Grade II 1 1/8-mile race for three-year-olds carries a guaranteed $300,000 purse.
