One of the reason's Vancouver is always among the top-ranked "most livable cities in the world" (we ranked 3rd in 2013) is our "culture and environment." Simply put: there are so many healthy, fun, fantastic things to do in Vancouver every month of the year.

Winter Activities in Vancouver - December, January & February
The best things to do in Vancouver in the winter usually revolve around snow sports--skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, etc. Vancouver is perfectly situated for those who love the snow (but don't want to live in it): we're just two hours away from Whistler, one of the top ski resorts in North America, and even closer (30 minutes by car) to Cypress Mountain, Mount Seymour, and Grouse Mountain.
But even if you aren't into snow, there are still loads of things to do in the winter in Vancouver, including free outdoor ice skating, a full month of special Christmas events and attractions and January's annual Dine Out Vancouver food festival.

Spring Activities in Vancouver - March, April & May
Seasonal activities in spring in Vancouver could be themed, like the season itself, as "renewing." The days start to get a little longer, the snow sports come to an end, making way for different types of outdoor adventures, including spring whale watching, visiting our public gardens, "biking the blossoms" at the annual Vancouver Cherry Blosson Festival. There are Easter activities, two huge Vaisakhi Day Parades in April, and--one of my favourites--the B.C. Spot Prawn Festival in May, which marks the beginning of spot prawn season: luscious spot prawn dishes at restaurants all over town.

Fall Activities in Vancouver - September, October & November
Fall in Vancouver may be back-to-school season but that doesn't mean the fun stops just because the days are getting a little shorter and colder. Seasonal activities in fall include fishing, ice skating, and taking in the incredible red-and-gold fall foliage.
There's also a month of Halloween attractions and activities in October, and lots of film festivals for cinephiles, including the Vancouver International Film Festival in late-September/early October.

Year-Round Activities in Vancouver
Because of our mild climate, there are very few outdoor activities you can't do year-round in Vancouver. Snow sport season is November - March, but that's the exception; you can hike, bike, golf, swim, kayak, ice skate, and camp pretty any time you want. If indoor activities are more your thing, there are always things to see and do at Vancouver landmarks, museums, theatres, and cultural attractions.
