If you're planning a trip with your sweetheart to Kansas City, Missouri, there are plenty of places to go and experiences to enjoy on Valentine's Day. Additional special activities for loved ones can be found only about 5 miles (8 kilometers) and a 15-minute drive to the other, smaller Kansas City in Kansas.

From the most romantic restaurants, hotels, and couples' massages to the best places to buy flowers or chocolates, each Kansas City offers travelers and residents alike a plethora of date options. There are also activities on February 14 for the single celebrator, including an Anti-Valentine's Day gathering for teenagers.

When it comes to romantic dates, taking your sweetheart out for a candlelit dinner at one of the city's top restaurants is certainly one of the best ways to celebrate your love. Kansas City has some of the most respected restaurants in the Midwest for a quiet evening with a special someone on Valentine's Day.

From quaint French Bistros like Le Fou Frog on the edge of downtown's River Market to the old world charm of Italian-style Jasper's, you're sure to uncover a great spot to take your partner. Piropos, an Argentinean restaurant overlooking the city in Briarcliff Village, is also recommended.

Consider stopping by The Country Club Plaza, one of the top shopping malls in the area, which is sure to be decorated in bright reds and pinks in honor of the love-filled holiday. Or try Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, Kansas, one of the largest indoor shopping centers in the city.

If you're alone on Valentine's Day, or even if you're in a relationship but just hate the sentimental holiday, there are plenty of free options in Kansas City, from museums with global collections and parks with picnic areas and Shakespeare plays to craft brewery tours, as well as events that don't require a date.

This year, teens can also stop by an Anti-Valentine's Day Party at West Wyandotte Library in Kansas City, Kansas, on February 12, 2020, for games, video games, crafts, and to mingle with new friends.

If you are looking for something a little different to do on the holiday in 2020, dress in your favorite 1920s attire (strongly encouraged) and check out the Roaring 20's Valentine's Day Party organized by the Ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Kansas City (MO) Alumnae Chapter and the Men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Kansas City Alumni Chapter. The party at the Delta Athenaeum features DJs spinning tunes on two levels, a cash bar, and a speakeasy on the main level with food and drinks.
