It's Not Open Yet!:
Note that The Crosswinds was scheduled to open in 2011, and the indoor water park was slated to be part of the project's phase-two development. It appears the project is delayed and may have been cancelled. The following information was provided by the developers when the project was in the planning stages.
The Crosswinds Resort will include a huge indoor water park with Florida Keys theming.
It will feature a generous array of attractions including a Zip uphill water coaster, a FlowRider surfing attraction, a family raft ride, a bowl ride, a lazy river, and an indoor/outdoor spa. It will also offer a unique Boomerang halfpipe ride as well as an interactive play center with small slides and a tipping bucket.
In addition to the indoor water park, the resort will offer an impressive array of amenities. The complex is slated to include The Crosswinds, a main 350-room South Beach/Art Deco themed hotel along with a 350-room Crown Plaza hotel, a 200-room Intercontinental Hotel Indigo, and an all-suite hotel to be named. Other features of the resort will include a huge conference center and ballroom facility, a restaurant/retail/entertainment area called City Walk Village, a spa, and a video arcade. According to its developers, Grand Isle will be a $375-million resort.
The property will be located near the BWI Airport and about 8 miles from Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
