The California state capital draws its fair share of business travelers and visitors who are in-the-know about the city’s cultural awakening. Sacramento has more than 30 miles of bike trails to beckon outdoor enthusiasts, fantastic locally sourced restaurants, annual events such as “farm-to-fork” week and about 200 wineries that can be explored in the surrounding area. Although there are a number of budget hotels in Sacramento, many are less than adequate in terms of service and cleanliness. However, the Best Western Plus Sutter receives rave reviews from TripAdvisor members. It's a clean, convenient and comfortable choice for budget travelers. The hotel features a lovely pool area, fitness center, included breakfast buffet and free parking. The 94 eco-friendly rooms have beautiful decor, mini refrigerators and microwaves. The hotel is located near the light rail for easy transportation around town, however, light sleepers should request a room in the back of the hotel away from the train noise. Pets are welcome for a fee.
Best for Business: Residence Inn Sacramento Downtown at Capitol Park
With an outstanding downtown location at Capitol Park near the convention center and plenty of restaurants and bars, the Residence Inn Sacramento is a great choice for business travelers. The hotel has two meeting rooms, a business center, a fitness center and an outdoor swimming pool for relaxing after work. Guests can dine at the Grange restaurant and bar, a beautiful two-story space that is one of Sacramento’s most popular restaurants. Best Boutique: The Greens Hotel
If name-brand hotels aren’t your style and you’d like something more intimate, then the Greens Hotel is an excellent alternative. Once a motel, the 25-room Greens Hotel has been beautifully remodeled, but maintains a quirky, vintage vibe. Guests can take a dip in the outdoor pool or relax in the picnic area. The hotel is located in an up-and-coming neighborhood about three miles north of the center of downtown Sacramento.
Best Romance: Kimpton Sawyer
The Kimpton Hotel brand is known for its trendy decor and upscale accommodations. And its hotels are a great choice for couples seeking a romantic getaway. The Kimpton Sawyer is located in the hip Downtown Commons area surrounded by art galleries, restaurants and shops, as well as an indoor/outdoor arena. The 250-room hotel features several open-air spaces, as well as a third-floor bar and lounge for craft cocktails and locally inspired dishes from the on-site restaurant. Guests can relax in the landscaped pool area with intimate, private cabanas. Rooms feature premium bedding and organic textures and design schemes.
Best Nightlife: Hyatt Regency Sacramento
