Bright-colored suite décor (think hot pink walls and lime green furnishings) adds a cheerful vibe, with full kitchens and separate living areas. A hot breakfast buffet is included in the rates, as is a weekday social hour with drinks and snacks. Guests can work out in the fitness center, take a dip in the pool or shoot some hoops at the basketball court.

Best Luxury: The Hotel Le Veque Autograph Collection

Located on the Ohio State University campus and operated by the Fisher College of Business, it is no surprise that The Blackwell Inn meets the needs of business travelers. There’s also a 24-hour fitness center, business center and private car service. Valet parking is additional (but reasonable).

If you’re a budget traveler and don’t need to be in the downtown area, the WoodSpring Suites has rock-bottom rates but remains a clean, comfortable hotel. The hotel is located 15 minutes north of downtown near Polaris Mall, several parks, golf courses and outdoor adventure parks – so there’s plenty to do without going far. The 124 apartment-style rooms are extremely spacious and include full-sized refrigerators, microwaves, stovetops and dining tables, as well as discounted rates for extended stays. Laundry facilities, free Wi-Fi and parking are also available, however, there is no gym or pool. TripAdvisor members loved that it was close to a number of restaurants, shops and a movie theater.

Best for Families: Best Western Suites Columbus Ohio

For a family-friendly stay at a great price, the Best Western Suites ticks all the boxes. Located near Ohio State University, Berliner Sports Park, and the Ohio State Fair, the 66-room hotel is just off I-70 about six miles from downtown Columbus. Kids will love splashing in the indoor pool, while adults can unwind in the hot tub or catch a workout in the fitness center. A free hot breakfast buffet will save families some cash. Spacious, clean rooms have microwaves and refrigerators, modern décor, couches and soaking tubs. Guest laundry is available for a small charge. TripAdvisor members loved that a Bob Evans restaurant was within walking distance. Parking is included.
