Located within walking distance to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, East 4th District, sports stadiums and the House of Blues, the city of Cleveland is at your doorstep. The 484-room hotel has loads of amenities, including a fitness center and gear-lending program, four floors of local artwork and a farm-to table steakhouse restaurant and bar. Rooms and suites have a minimum of 350 square feet of space, luxurious beds, mini refrigerators and premium bath amenities.
Best Budget: Cleveland Hostel
For adventurous travelers on a budget, the Cleveland Hostel is a hybrid between a trendy boutique hotel and a socially inviting backpacker hostel. The community atmosphere makes it a welcoming place, while the amenities and prices make this an excellent wallet-friendly option. Choose between shared bunk rooms or private ones (there are 15 in total). Amenities include a communal kitchen, free Wi-Fi, parking, indoor and outdoor bike storage and a rooftop patio with fantastic views. The hostel opened in 2012 and is located in the heart of Ohio City Neighborhood within a 10-minute walk to restaurants, shops, breweries and the popular West Side Market.
Best for Families: Drury Plaza Hotel Cleveland Downtown
The Drury Hotel chain is known for its family-friendly appeal and comfortable accommodations and the Drury Plaza Hotel Cleveland Downtown is no different. The 189-room hotel is housed in the former Board of Education Building (circa 1931) and was restored in 2014. Guests can enjoy a free hot breakfast, soda and popcorn, evening happy hour with cocktails and snacks, plus an indoor pool and hot tub. Spacious rooms have modern decor, microwaves and refrigerators, but the on-site pantry is perfect for picking up a few snacks. The hotel is within walking distance to family-favorite attractions such as FirstEnergy Stadium (Cleveland Browns), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Indians’ Progressive Field. Valet parking is extra.
Best Luxury: Ritz Carlton Cleveland
Fresh off a 2017 renovation, the Ritz-Carlton Cleveland is even more gorgeous than ever and is an ideal place for luxury travelers. The 206-room hotel is located steps away from the Arcade Cleveland shopping center and the Jack Cleveland Casino. Rooms have a minimum of 405 square feet of space with lavish Italian marble baths, plush robes, iPod docking stations, views of the city, Lake Erie or the Cuyahoga River. Guests can dine at MUSE bar and restaurant and sample fresh, seasonal cuisine. TripAdvisor members loved that the hotel was connected to the Tower City Center and in close proximity to the trendy Warehouse District.
Best Business: Marriott Downtown at Key Center
A popular choice for business travelers, Marriott Downtown at Key Center is connected to one of the tallest office buildings in Cleveland. It's just one block from the Huntington Convention Center and across from the Public Square. The 25-story hotel has 400 guestrooms with sleek, modern decor, a minimum of 234 square feet of space and views of the lake or city. There are two on-site restaurants. One is a stylish lounge serving tapas and craft cocktails and the other is a sandwich shop that’s open for breakfast and lunch. Guests can squeeze in a workout in the fitness center or relax in the indoor pool and sauna. The hotel also has 16 meeting rooms and 17,000 square feet of event space for business needs.
Best Boutique: Glidden House
For a change of pace from the chain hotels, the Glidden House is a three-diamond, boutique hotel located on the grounds of the Case Western Reserve University. Registered on the National List of Historic Places, the 60-room hotel has French-Gothic style architecture, with beautiful chandeliers and furnishings that blend with modern room decor. There’s also a business center, cocktail lounge (open in the evenings) and a fantastic on-site restaurant that serves northern Italian fare. The Glidden House is within walking distance to the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Museum of Art and the shops and restaurants of Little Italy. Free Wi-Fi, parking and a European-style breakfast are included with room rates.
Best Nightlife: Metropolitan at 9
Part of the Marriott’s Autograph Collection, the Metropolitan at 9 is a trendy option located in the historic Gateway District, a buzzing area that’s full of bars, restaurants and dance clubs - perfect for the traveler seeking a nightlife scene. The 156-room hotel also features a popular rooftop bar, as well as Vault, a cocktail lounge that is fashioned from a century-old bank vault. Guests can take in a live performance at the Alex Theater or dine at the award-winning Mediterranean restaurant. Rooms have a minimum of 400 square feet, chic decor, premium bedding, sofas and an honor bar. The pet-friendly hotel also has an indoor dog park. Valet parking is extra.
Best Bed and Breakfast: The Clifford House
For a charming stay at a classic bed and breakfast, consider the Clifford House, a vine-covered, Tuscan-style home that was built in 1868. A friendly dog and cat are permanent residents at the B&B and the cheerful owner continues to add to his home with curated art and elegant – yet – cozy decor. Wake up to the smell of coffee brewing and breakfast cooking (a full breakfast is included, but grab-and-go options are available if you’re in a hurry). Individually decorated rooms include premium bed linens, four-poster beds and antique wood furnishings. TripAdvisor members raved about the owner’s hospitality and loved the Ohio City location near several bars, restaurants and the Great Lakes Brewery.
Best Romance: Kimpton Schofield Hotel Cleveland
Start your romantic getaway off at the inviting wine reception at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel Cleveland, a 122-room property in the Gateway District. Housed in a historic building dating back to the early 1900s, the hotel has been beautifully restored to offer modern decor with an artistic twist.
