Tacoma bakeries range from cute little cupcake shops to specialty doughnut shops to cake studios where you can find amazingly beautiful wedding cakes. Some local bakeries are just that—a place to order a cake for an occasion and be on your way. Others feature cafe space and delicious bakery cases where you can marvel over the delicious treats, choose your adventure and then have a seat with a cup of coffee. If you want something a few steps up from Cinnabon, these places are for you!
Corina Bakery is the perfect all-around bakery—great for a walk-in treat or as the place to order your next event cake. Artistic and tasty cakes come in a variety of flavors, some of the cooler ones being lemon coconut, The King’s Favorite (banana cake, peanut butter frosting, and chocolate ganache), and The Aztec (chocolate cake with cinnamon, cayenne, and ginger). But Corina goes beyond event cakes and is also a great place to stop by and sit down. They have a seating area in their bistro located not far from Wright Park on 6th Avenue. Lots of sweet treats await, but so do some savory ones as well. Scones, cupcakes, cookies, pies and breads are just some of what they have on tap here. But as a special bonus, gluten-free, vegan and soy-free options are all available, making this one of the few bakeries in the South Sound where those with dietary restrictions aren't left out. The bakery is also right next to The Grand so it's an ideal date night—cake and a movie!

Located downtown on Pacific Avenue, very close to the UW - Tacoma campus, Hello Cupcake Tacoma has everything a cupcake shop should have—it’s really cute, the cupcakes are all lined up behind a glass case for you to drool over, and there’s some good people watching from their large front window. Hello Cupcake does not offer much beyond cupcakes and a few beverages, but that’s the beauty of this place. Cupcake flavors include the basics of chocolate and vanilla in a few combinations, along with red velvet, carrot cake, coconut, and seasonal special flavors like lemon or pink champagne. The real kicker at Hello Cupcake are the frostings—handmade butter creams. They are rich and delectable.

Metropolitan Market is a regional grocery chain, but their bakery can give almost any bakery a run for its money. Some of their items are brought in from local or even international bakeries as well, expanding the selection. Breads from Paris, cookies from a local baker, or cookies baked right onsite are all just some of the selection here. They also offer cupcakes and whoopee pies that fit nicely with a sunny day in their outdoor seating area. And if you don't know what to get, the most surefire bet in the bakery might just be The Cookie - a gigantic chocolate chip cookie that's probably going to be the best cookie you've ever tasted. Met Market is located in Proctor so it is ideal for outdoor seating.

The Taste of Samoa offers bakery items just what the name says - a taste of the Pacific Islands via delicious baked goods.
