If you happen to be heading to Texas over Fourth of July weekend, you'll have no shortage of Independence Day activities to choose from. In fact, since the Fourth falls on a Monday this year, it will be a true 'Fourth of July Weekend.' Here is a small sample of what's on tap in Texas for the Fourth of July, 2016.
Monday, July 4
There will be a full day of activities in and around Fredericksburg, starting with a Fourth of July parade down Main Street at 10 a.m. The balance of the day will see events throughout the town and surrounding area. The day will be capped with a fireworks display at Lady Bird Municipal Park beginning at "dark-thirty."
Houston's celebration, the Freedom Over Texas Fourth of July Celebration Presented by US Health Plans at Eleanor Tinsley Park features a fireworks display and live music. The fireworks display is being billed as the 'largest land-based fireworks show in the nation.'
This event generally draws a big crowd, so those wishing to attend should show up early to ensure they have a spot to watch the fireworks.
And, in Dallas, Fair Park Fourth is a free event featuring food, games, live music and fireworks in Fair Park. The event is one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in Texas.
Granbury's July 4 Celebration begins Friday and continues through Sunday. The event includes a car show, tractor pull, ranch rodeo, children's games, arts & crafts, parade and fireworks display.
