A hundred years ago, having a cup of tea was an event. The L.S. Ayres tea room was an Indianapolis hot spot for women and their daughters while they were out shopping. Filled with polite conversation and strict etiquette, high tea was part of upper society. These days, most people haven't had the opportunity to experience a nice tea. While there once were a lot of tearooms in the Indianapolis area, there are now just a small number. The ones that are still in existence bring the aged tradition of the tearoom to life.
The L.S. Ayres tea room was recreated at the Indiana State Museum and ran for several years. Now, it is closed once more, leaving Indy's "women who lunch" out in the cold. But alas, there are a few other options!
Perfect for special events, a tea luncheon can be a very memorable experience with those special people in your life. These tearooms can be reserved for special parties and some offer regular lunch hours. Given the specialty nature of these venues, reservations are highly recommended.
