Located in West Central Florida near Lakeville, it is the easternmost city in the area, known as Tampa Bay, and has an overall average high temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit and an average low of 63 degrees Fahrenheit. Monthly Weather Patterns On average, Tampa's warmest month is July and January is the average coolest month, with overnight freezing temperatures a possibility. The maximum average rainfall usually comes in August, as afternoon thunderstorms make nearly daily appearances. The highest temperature ever recorded in Tampa was a sweltering 99 degrees Fahrenheit in 1985 and the lowest recorded temperature was a very cold 18 degrees Fahrenheit in 1962. Unpredictable storms can strike anytime during the Atlantic Hurricane season, which runs from June through the end of November, but August and September seem to be the most active months. What to Pack If you're visiting Tampa in the summertime, it's best to dress as cool as possible and avoid the mid-day sun. The Florida Aquarium is the perfect place to beat the Florida heat, but if you're visiting Busch Gardens, you may want to slather on the sunscreen and wear a hat since you will be in the sun most of the time. Otherwise, when visiting Tampa, dress for the season—shorts are perfect for the summer, but be sure to pack an umbrella. In the winter, slacks are more appropriate, but be sure to bring a sweater and jacket in case it turns chilly in the evenings. 3:23 Watch Now: Essential Things to See and Do in Tampa Average Temperatures and Rainfall If you're looking for more specific monthly weather information, below is the average temperatures and rainfall for Tampa: JanuaryAverage High: 70 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low: 52 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 2.27 inchesFebruaryAverage High Temperature: 72 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 54 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 2.67 inchesMarchAverage High Temperature: 76 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 58 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 2.84 inchesAprilAverage High Temperature: 81 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 62 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 1.80 inchesMayAverage High Temperature: 86 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 71 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 6.33 inchesJuneAverage High Temperature: 86 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 69 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 2.85 inchesJulyAverage High Temperature: 90 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 75 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 6.49 inchesAugustAverage High Temperature: 90 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 75 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 7.60 inchesSeptemberAverage High Temperature: 89 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 74 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 6.54 inchesOctoberAverage High Temperature: 84 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 68 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 2.29 inchesNovemberAverage High Temperature: 78 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 61 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 4.62 inchesDecemberAverage High Temperature: 72 degrees FahrenheitAverage Low Temperature: 55 degrees FahrenheitAverage Precipitation: 2.30 inches If you're planning a Florida vacation or getaway, find out more about the state of Florida's weather.
