It's that time of year again when the kids want to visit Santa Claus right here on Long Island, NY. Here are some places where you can meet the man in the red suit.

This list is updated every year, usually a few weeks before the actual events. Here are the dates for 2013.

    Dart's Christmas Tree Farm

    One of Long Island's Christmas tree farms, Dart's is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve.

    Santa usually makes an appearance on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. Please call to verify.

    Green Acres Mall

    From Saturday, November 16, 2013 through Tuesday, December 24, 2013, kids can take photos with Santa in the Green Acres Mall's Macy's Men/Kohl's Wing. Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, December 24, 2013. (Note that Santa's breaks are from Monday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sundays from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.) For pricing, please see their website.

    Also at the mall: Paws and Claus - photos of you, your pet and Santa on Tuesday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., November 19 and 26, December 3 and 10, 2013. Pease only bring domestic, well-behaved pets. They must be on leashes. See their website for pricing.

    Every year, Hicks Nurseries hosts Santa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., every day leading up to Christmas. Starting on Friday, November 29, 2013, you can bring your own camera so you can snap a photo of the kids with jolly St Nick. In addition, there are live reindeer, Comet and Cupid, at the nurseries from Saturday, November 30, 2013 until December 23, 2012, and there's a FREE exhibit of a holiday story that the kids can walk through until Monday, December 23, 2013.

    And from Saturday, November 9, 2013 until Wednesday, December 18, 2013, you can mail a letter to Santa in Hicks' North Pole Mailbox and he'll answer if you include a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Note: all letters must be received by December 18, 2012.

    Bayville Winter Wonderland is Long Island's winter holiday park. Every day through January 1, 2014, Santa will make appearances at the park.

    There's also ice skating, a fun house, train ride, arcade, and more. $20 admission incudes Santa's toy factory funhouse, the Bayville Holiday Express train ride, holiday arts and crafts, holiday storytelling and more.

    Santa will visit the farm every Saturday and Sunday during the holiday season from noon to 5 p.m.

    The farms open from Friday, November 29, 2013 until Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, 2013. While you're there, cut your own or buy an already cut Christmas tree. There are also handmade wreaths and more. There are train rides, weather permitting.
