Syren has been writing since childhood, but began working as a freelance writer and author in 2015. They founded Disabled Hikers in 2018 and have since written hundreds of trails guides and articles. They have written for Backpacker, Washington Trails Association, and Save the Redwoods, among others. Their book, "The Disabled Hiker's Guide to Western Washington and Oregon," is published by Falcon Guides. Syren also leads group hikes and events and offers training for people who are disabled, chronically ill, or neurodivergent.
