Great Basin Naturalists Summer Exploration Camp provides kids ages 8 to 12 with environment-based education, creativity, and fun in the forest surrounding Galena Creek Visitor Center. Both day camps and residential camps are available. There are different themes each week. The leaders have degrees in wildlife, environmental science, or education.
Teen Leadership Academy is for kids ages 13 to 17. The program is designed to prepare teens for future camp counselor opportunities while exploring conservation, environmental science, and learning new outdoor skills.

Arts for All offers summer camps and workshops for children, with age-appropriate projects and activities that allow each child to express their individual creativity. There are also camp sessions that include parents and grandparents along with the kids. Sessions are held at the Lake Mansion in Reno and the Alf Sorensen Community Center in Sparks. These activities are popular, so register as soon as possible. Classes are limited in size and are offered on a first come first served basis.

The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (The Discovery) in Reno is offering a summer full of camp fun in 2014. There will be a wide variety of weekly session camps, each designed for specific age and grade groups, from first through seventh. Each camp has a link to register online. The Girl Scouts offer a variety of summer camps - residence camping at Camp Wasiu II, Summer Adventure Day Camp, Weekend Camp, and Troop Camp.

Reno's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services offers camps for kids of all ages during the summer. There are activities and camps geared to kids ages 6 to 14, so be sure to check out the City of Reno camp information website to see what's going on. Some of the camps available are Vacation Station, Summer of Fun, Summer Discovery Day Camp, Too Cool To Camp, Performing Arts Specialty Camp, and Outdoor Wilderness Camp.

The City of Sparks Parks & Recreation Department provides a variety of fun, age-appropriate Kids Out-of-School Programs, including arts and crafts, swimming, field trips, bowling, active games, Wild Island water slides and golf, skating, special guests and more. These activities are included in the registration fee.
