Below is a sampling of some of the bigger charity events taking place during the next few months of 2016. These are annual events, but the exact dates may change in 2017 and beyond.

• Princess Ball
Benefiting Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando, the annual Princess Ball is taking place on April 30, 2016 at 6:00 pm at the Wyndham Grand Resort. This magical event strengthens the relationship between fathers and daughters while benefiting the programs of Florida Hospital for Children.
The event features entertainment from professional ballet dancers, along with food, face painting, professional photography, a photo booth, carriage rides, and a silent auction with fine art, jewelry, spa retreats, theme park tickets, and more up for grabs. • Running of the Chihuahuas
On May 1st, leading up to Cinco de Mayo, Orlando Chihuahua owners can show off their beloved furfriends and prove that they are more than just lap dogs. Cocina 214 is putting on the 4th Annual Running of the Chihuahuas and registrations are now open. Proceeds benefit Winter Park Lost Pets and A Cause 4 Paws Rescue.

• LUNG FORCE Run/Walk Orlando
Taking place on May 7, 2016 at Baldwin Park's Harbor View Park, the American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is a charity walk unlike any other. Participants are encouraged to use their lungs in any way possible during the walk, such as through singing, laughing, speaking, and just breathing. Monies raised go toward research, education, advocacy, and awareness.

• Audubon Baby Owl Shower
In what might be the cutest charity event of the summer, the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey is holding a Baby Owl Shower on May 7, 2016 at 10:00 am. The event is free, but the Center asks for gifts in lieu of admission. To see the wish list, visit the website.
Shower visitors will enjoy conservation themed activities, up-close visits with birds of prey, and a viewing of the non-releasable orphaned raptors being raised at the Center.
• FARE National Food Allergy Conference
Taking place May 14-15, 2016, this event gathers the nation's leading food allergy experts, as well as members of the food allergy community, for a full weekend of world-class education and programming. The annual conference provides a unique opportunity to connect with other food allergy suffers and learn about advances in research and advocacy. It's also a good place to pick up practical skills for living well with food allergies.

• Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: Interactive Tour in Orlando
At the Community Food & Outreach Center, the public will have the opportunity to help lift families out of poverty on May 20, 2016. During the guided tour, you'll receive hands-on experience with some of the services provided by the Outreach Center. Lunch is provided.

• Walk to End Lupus Now and Wellness Expo
The Lupus Foundation of America's Florida Chapter is hosting an upcoming seminar and walk on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 4 pm and Lake Eola Park. The expo will focus on connecting lupus patients and caregivers with businesses and organizations in the area who offer services or products that are beneficial to those dealing with the disease.

• Wine Quest
Wine Quest at Loews Royal Pacific Resort takes place June 3, 2016 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm and features more than 200 wines from around the world, amazing cuisine, and auctions to benefit Quest, Inc., and organization that aims to change the lives of those with developmental disabilities by helping them achieve their dreams to learn, live, work, and play.

• National Down Syndrome Congress
Sponsored by the National Down Syndrome Congress, this annual convention welcomes over 3000 people to the JW Marriott Grande Lakes July 21-24, 2016. The convention enables those impacted by Down Syndrome an opportunity to meet peers and participate in interactive workshops. Plus, attendees will gain access to the latest information from experts around the world.
