Strathmore’s Backyard Theater provides innovative performances for children every Thursday morning in July at 9:30 & 11:30 a.m. The Music Center at Strathmore, a 1,976-seat concert hall and education complex is located at 10701 Rockville Pike (Route 355), in North Bethesda, MD, immediately adjacent to the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station.

Strathmore’s Backyard Theater parking is available in the Mansion at Strathmore parking lot on a space available basis. The entrance is located at 10701 Rockville Pike. Additional parking is located in the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station and along Tuckerman Lane. A SmarTrip card is required to exit the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro garage. Cards can be purchased within the Metro station.

Moona Luna - Led by Sandra Velasquez, this bilingual band features Spanish and English lyrics over irresistible pop melodies. Moona Luna made its debut in 2011 with a Latin-inspired, accordion-driven record called Piñata Party. The group’s new album, P A N O R A M A, chronicles a family bus trip through South America, incorporating Latin rhythms with music of the African Diaspora.

Recess Monkey - The acclaimed “kindie” trio from Seattle is composed of three elementary school teachers who love to entertain. The band is known for its high energy, cross-generational concerts and prolific album output, having released 12 full-length albums. Recess Monkey bassist/vocalist Jack Forman can be heard on SiriusXM’s Kids Place Live where his daily kid call-in show, Live From the Monkey House, blends kid-centric ideas, hysterical daily themes, and catchy music for the whole family.

The Uncle Devin Show -“Drumcussionist” Uncle Devin creates a highly interactive musical experience that inspires young minds with a world of percussion instruments. Uncle Devin teaches his young audience about the history of percussion, explaining why it is the easiest, oldest, and most diverse form of musical creativity. The resulting performance is like a cross between Fat Albert and Schoolhouse Rock! filled with positive and inspiring messages. In addition to being a Parents’ Choice Presentation Award-winning musician, Devin is also the author of children's book The ABC's of Percussion, which was a 2015 National Parenting Publication Awards bronze winner.

Andre & Polly - Ear Snacks Live - This award-winning Los Angeles duo makes delightful, clever music for kids with an easy indie-folk vibe complete with witty lyrics and super catchy melodies. With a mix of originals and classic covers like The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun,” the concert is a guaranteed sing-along. Parts of this show will be recorded live for a future episode of Andrew & Polly’s popular podcast, Ear Snacks. The duo’s album Odds & Ends received a Parents’ Choice Award, and performers Andrew & Polly are recipients of the ASCAP Foundation Joe Raposo Children’s Music Award.<br/>
