Detroit and/or Michigan-Inspired Products, Merchandise or Apparel

Several local stores base their business on Detroit and/or Michigan-inspired merchandise. Some stores showcase local artists work or home-grown products, while others stock Detroit sports team apparel and collectibles. Still, others simply stamp "Detroit" or "Michigan" on a lot of stuff. Whatever your pleasure, there are products aplenty that reflect the area. The list below includes brick-n-mortar stores located in the Metro Detroit Area and devoted to Detroit and/or Michigan.

Berkley & Rochester: Catching Fireflies

Catching fireflies feature whimsical gifts made by local artists, including handbags, jewelry, vases, garden stones and picture frames. The store has locations in Berkley at 3117 W. Twelve Mile Road and Rochester at 203 E. University.

Detroit: Detroit Artist's Market

Detroit Artist's Market exhibits pottery, jewelry and artwork by Detroit artists. It is located at 4719 Woodward Avenue, Detroit Cultural Center, three blocks south of the Detroit Institute of Art.

Detroit: Pewabic Pottery

Pewabic's renowned pottery and tile are made in Detroit with retail outlets throughout the Metro Detroit Area.

Detroit: Pure Detroit Design Lab

Pure Detroit is a studio and retail boutique that showcases local artists and fashion designers. In addition to fashion, accessories and artwork are also available. The "Design Lab" is located at 156 W. Congress at Shelby in downtown Detroit. Some of the boutique's featured items include Motor City Handbags (some of which are made out of seatbelts), vintage Detroit photos and "Detroit-a-Licious" stamped Pure-Detroit organic apparel.

Harper Woods: Finish Line

In addition to athletic apparel and shoes, Finish Line carries jerseys, jackets, and caps of NCAA Collegiate, NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL teams. This national chain has just one store in the Metro-Detroit area: Eastland Center in Harper Woods.

Livonia: Art-is-in Market Gallery

Art-is-in Market is a gallery owned by a Michigan artists' co-operative. The gallery showcases the artists' work. While the co-op has member artists from all over Michigan, the majority are from the Metro-Detroit area. Merchandise includes paintings, jewelry, pottery and fashion apparel. The gallery is located in Livonia at Laurel Park Place (Newburgh and 6 Mile Roads).

Livonia: The Town Peddler Craft & Antique Mall

The Town Peddler's 400 specialty shops showcase crafts made by artisans in Southeast Michigan. The merchandise includes jewelry, paintings, furniture, candles, pictures of old Detroit, doll clothes, etc. It also showcases antiques and collectibles. The 24,000 store is Located in Livonia at 35323 Plymouth Road.

Metro-Detroit Area: Fanatic U

Fanatic U stores cater to all things Michigan, including apparel and jerseys of the Red Wings, Pistons, Lions and Tigers. They also carry all things Wolverine and Spartan. Store locations include:

Metro-Detroit Area: M-Den

M-Den offers official University of Michigan Wolverine merchandise. In addition to apparel, the store also carries, flags, glassware, DVDs, footballs and even stroller covers for the serious Michigan enthusiast. In addition to stores in Ann Arbor, there are two locations in the Metro Detroit Area:

Sterling Heights: Countryside Craft & Antique Mall

Countryside mall is made up of 300 dealer booths that display local artist merchandise, including hand-made jewelry, candles, furniture, framed pictures, paintings, and dolls. Antiques and collectibles are also exhibited. The mall is located in Sterling Heights at 40700 Van Dyke at 18 Mile Road.
