Here are some ways for adults to enjoy the St. Patrick's Day holiday around the Reno and Tahoe region. There is a lot of green beer and drinking, with several related events happening as well. Those who enjoy the Irish pub scene will find a wide selection of establishments from which to choose.

    Reno / Tahoe Irish Pubs

    Judging from how many there are, hoisting a few at Reno / Tahoe Irish pubs has got to be a popular activity. Come St. Patrick's Day, these establishments roll out their finest green beer, Irish ale, and food fit for the Emerald Isle.

    Ceol Irish Pub throws one of Reno's best St. Patrick's Day parties. There will be plenty of Irish beverages and food from the Godfather food truck in 2018. Music and Irish merriment will continue into the night with live Irish music, featuring the Blarney Band at 8:00 p.m. on the indoor stage and 3:17, Sean McGinnis, and more on the outdoor stage in 2018.     You can also listen to a traditional Irish music session each Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    The annual Rapscallion St. Patrick's Day party features live music, green beer, and Irish food specials. The green beer typically starts flowing at 10:00 a.m. and a brunch is typically available until 3:00 p.m. Dinner is usually served from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Outside music starts at 6:30 p.m.

    The St. Patrick's Day party at Filthy McNasty's Irish Bar typically starts at 12 noon on March 17. The party is usually held outside, and features live music, food vendors, green beer, Irish car bombs, and other drink specials.

    2016 Reno Leprechaun Crawl

    "Paint the town Green" at the Reno Leprechaun Crawl on Saturday, March 17, 2018. The Leprechaun Crawl officially starts at 8:00 p.m. and goes until 4:00 a.m.

    Start bars are the Waterfall and Silver Legacy. For $5, you get a commemorative cup, map and access to 30 participating bars in downtown Reno without cover, and plenty of drink and beer specials as low as $2 to $4.

    This is an adult drinking event, but it's not a free-for-all. Be sure to read up on the rules for participating and have fun. The Leprechaun Crawl is just one of many special and regular Reno beer and pub crawls held throughout the year.

    The Sons and Daughters of Erin will be presenting this St. Patrick's Day Dinner & Show at the Circus Circus Hotel/Casino at 500 N Sierra Street in Reno.

    The party is on Saturday, March 10, 2018, and begins at 4:00 p.m. with Irish whiskey tasting. There will be a raffle starting at 5:00 p.m., with dinner and program at 5:30 p.m. Entertainment will be by Sierra Silver Strings, Blanchette Irish Dancers, the Tinkers, and the Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band. Adult tickets are $45 and child tickets (12 and under) are $25 in 2018.

    In March, the Riverwalk Wine Walk in downtown Reno will be on Saturday, March 17, 2018 which just happens to be on St. Patrick's Day. The Wine Walk is from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and includes participation by many businesses in the Riverwalk District.

    To do the walk, take your $20 to any participating merchant for a wine glass and ID bracelet (this involves drinking, so you've got to be at least 21). Please, no strollers or pets. For more information, call (775) 825-WALK (9255).

    Self-Guided St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl on Wells Avenue

    The biggest concentration of Irish pubs in any Reno neighborhood is located along Wells Avenue. Some of these include Corrigan's, Ryan's Saloon, Wonder Bar, Lucke's Saloon, The Broken Spoke, and Rapscallion. Filthy McNasty's Irish Bar is just off the south end of Wells. To encourage bar-hopping behavior, shamrocks have been painted on the sidewalks to guide revelers from one bar to the next. Ryan's anchors the north end of the crawl and Rapscallion is on the south end.

    St. Patrick's Day at the Atlantis typically features special Irish dishes and drinks at several of its restaurants, including Manhattan Deli, Purple Parrot, and Toucan Charlie's Buffet & Grille. Enjoy your favorite Irish beers and specialty Irish cocktails.

    St. Patrick’s Day at JA Nugget

    Everyone gets lucky on St. Patrick’s Day at JA Nugget in Sparks. Enjoy Irish food and drink specials, free live music, and free play giveaways. Enjoy Irish drink specials in all the bars and an Irish dinner in Rosie's Cafe, the Oyster Bar, or the Rotisserie Buffet. The Nugget is located at 1100 Nugget Avenue in Sparks.

    Make it a safe St. Patrick's Day and ride the bus if your celebrating involves enjoying green beer, ale, and Irish whiskey. Ride RTC Transit Services free on March 17 from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

    Nearby Virginia City's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018, featuring the Minden Irish Dancers, Giant Leprachaun's of Fresno, and other green attractions.

    In conjunction with the parade, participants in the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry will be serving up this delicacy cooked in a variety of ways. Warning - these are not shellfish. They are cattle testicles. Over 20 cooks will be trying to win the tasting contest. The Fry will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on C Street in downtown Virginia City.

    Besides the parade, there are typically lots of fun St. Patrick's Day activities for kids, families, and adults, including authentic live Irish music, a beer garden, numerous vendors, and the annual Leprechaun Bar Crawl. For more information, call (775) 847-7500.
