Sports is a large part of Los Angeles culture. Now that the LA Rams have returned we have the full range of professional sports teams from football to multiple professional baseball, basketball and hockey teams, pro men's and women's soccer as well as hosting a multitude of other sporting events from boxing matches to horse racing to extreme sport competitions and the US surfing championships. Dodger Stadium at Chavez Ravine in Elysian Park is home to the National League Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. The stadium was built in 1962 and has undergone many upgrades and environmental improvement measures. The StubHub Center, formerly known as the Home Depot Center, on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA just south of Los Angeles, is home to the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team. The 125 acre StubHub Center Complex includes a 27,000-seat soccer stadium, an 8,000-seat tennis stadium, a track and field facility and the Velodrome, a 250 meter indoor wood bicycle racing track - the largest in the US. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has hosted two Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984 and is a National Historic Landmark. It is currently the home of the University of Southern California Trojans football team and the temporary home of the Los Angeles Rams while their new stadium is being built. The Los Angeles Sports Arena is adjacent to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at Exposition Park. The 15,000-seat arena still hosts the occasional boxing match, but is more often used for concerts.

Santa Anita Park is a thoroughbred horse race track built in 1934 in Arcadia, CA, north of Los Angeles near Pasadena. It is the oldest track in Southern California. With its Art Deco architecture, gardens and backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains, it it considered one of the most beautiful tracks in the world. In the summer, it's also one of the hottest, so most of the important races, including the Santa Anita Derby and the Santa Anita Handicap take place in the spring.

The Irwindale Speedway, about 25 minutes east of downtown Los Angeles, is a twin paved oval motorsports track. The 6,000-seat Speedway hosts Stock Cars, Sprint Cars, Midgets, Supermodifieds, Legends, Trucks, and more around it's double ovals, banked at 1/2 and 1/3 mile respectively. The venue also hosts concerts and other events.
