The Perfect Spa Day in Verona, NJ

Pompton Spa
Danielle Berman

Verona (yes, just like the one from Romeo and Juliet!), a 2.8 square-mile town surrounded by Montclair, Caldwell, Cedar Grove, and West Orange, is home to some of the finest spots to pamper yourself in North Jersey. Surprising, perhaps, but you'll definitely want to head here after that long week at the office. We've mapped out your perfect spa day in this quaint little town:

Hair: Anthony Robert Salon

Remember Anthony from Style Network's Jerseylicious?

Here's your chance to get glam in his Verona salon, located at 279 Bloomfield Avenue in the 7-Eleven plaza. See the menu for pricing information; services include haircuts, blowouts, balayage, glazes, special occasion styling, including bridal, deep conditioning, and more. The Yelp reviews don't lie and there are Groupons available often for those in need of saving some dough.

Nails: Nail Story Spa

Located at 340 Bloomfield Ave, this nail salon might be easy to miss (it's located in the front of the building with the large "Mix it Up" Bartending School sign) but we assure you: do not miss out on these manis. Try to book an appointment on a Friday or Saturday with Angey. She takes extra care in shaping your nails to perfection (literally lifts your hand up, palm facing you, to the light so she can see the curves and files them until they are perfect). UV Gel manicures have been reported by clients to last a full FOUR weeks without any chipping, lifting, or discoloration.

A recent nail art photo can be seen above, but more awesome examples can be found on their Facebook page.

Massage: Pompton Spa

For a mere $40, you'll be in a state of pure relaxation for a full 60 minutes. Pro-tip: for an extra $20, spring for the 90-minute massage. It's always safe to call ahead or make an appointment, however, it's rare that a walk-in would not be honored within 10 minutes and the hours could not be more convenient (10am-10pm daily).

The spa is extremely clean and inviting, complete with super-comfy massage beds and the perfect soundtrack (not that obnoxious elevator music you might be used to hearing in a massage parlor). The masseuses always check in to designate your desired level of pressure and will concentrate on problem areas if you inform them (otherwise, it's a typical Swedish, full-body massage). Plus, since you're in such close proximity and if you're in the mood to splurge, stop by Famous Ray's pizza for a slice before heading home.
