While, for most, the bargain shopping is the main attraction, visitors are also able to enjoy off the beaten track charming towns and communities, the scenic countryside, famous historic sites, delicious regional cuisine and welcoming Southern hospitality.

The annual World's Longest Yard Sale, also known as the Highway 127 Sale, begins on the first Thursday in August and continues for four days through the weekend, ending on Sunday. During this eagerly awaited event, hundreds of thousands of bargain hunters pack the scenic roads of the Highway 127 Corridor and the Lookout Mountain Parkway, from Michigan to Alabama, in search of a special find as well to enjoy the unique, welcoming and vibrant cultures and the natural beauty of the region.

First held in 2004 and growing in popularity ever since, the 4-day 400 Mile Sale takes place each year during early June, usually beginning on the Thursday before the first weekend in June. The sale route follows a recently designated Scenic Byway along Highway 68 (and Route 80), which travels through the rolling hills of Kentucky's picturesque Bluegrass region, where there are many historic sites, beautiful horse farms and unique small towns. In addition to the hundreds of yard sales, antique shops and food vendors, an array of special events take place along the way to add to the fun.

The Peaches to Beaches Yard Sale extends across Georgia for more than 200 miles, from the mid-state peach growing region to the coast. The sale, which takes place annually on the second Friday and Saturday of March, follows U.S. Highway 341, also called the Golden Isles Parkway for much of the length of the route. Community sale sites, located in small towns and cities along the way, are generally not more than 10 to 20 miles apart.
