When you want to celebrate Mardi Gras in St. Louis, there are plenty of events to choose from. Some of the biggest celebrations happen in the Soulard neighborhood in St. Louis. The Beggin' Pet Parade and Grand Parade draw thousands of participants and spectators each year. If you're looking for something fun, but on a smaller scale, check out is the annual Wine, Beer and Whiskey Taste.
This year, the Wine, Beer and Whiskey Taste is Friday, February 10, 2017, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. It's held at the Bud Light Party Centre at Soulard Market Park.
The park is located next to the historic Soulard Farmers Market along Lafayette Street between 7th and 9th Streets.
Tickets to the event are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. The price includes samples of more than 50 beers, wines and whiskeys. A master distiller from Jack Daniel's will also be on hand to answer questions about the whiskey-making process. And don't forget about the food! St. Louis' best bar-b-que restaurants, including Pappy's, Sugarfire and Salt + Smoke, will be serving complimentary samples of their most popular dishes from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
If you haven't gotten your fill from the Wine, Beer and Whiskey Taste, you can always follow up the next day with more tasty dishes at the Cajun Cook-Off. It's Saturday, February 11, 2017, from noon to 4 p.m. It's also held at the Bud Light Party Centre at Soulard Market Park. The cook-off features ten amateur and ten professional chefs in a competition to make the best cajun dish.
During the cook-off, spectators can enjoy an open bar, po' boys and jambalaya. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door. To buy tickets to either of these events, or to learn more about other happenings at this year's Mardi Gras, visit the Soulard Mardi Gras website.
