Yes, Sky Combat Ace Las Vegas Is Scary, But You Should Do It Anyway

Easily The Best Thing To Do In Las Vegas

I flew through the air in a plane designed for acrobatics. I simulated an attack on an enemy outpost. I flew an airplane with no experience. I made it roll, loop and bank so hard I felt my body melt into the seat. It was one of the most electrifying experiences of my life. Simply put, Sky Combat Ace is the best thing to do in Las Vegas.

However, I would never call a fighter pilot a liar. At least not to his face. Especially after he just took me on a wild ride where I tumbled and spun through the air in an airplane. No, there is no way I could bring myself to calling him a liar but I'm pretty sure he lied to me. In fact, I find it hard to believe that after a few of those maneuvers where I was sure that my hair was accelerating out of my head, that I did not pass out. Honestly, I think he lied to me. "You were awesome" and "I put you through it all" may not have been lies but it is possible that he failed to tell me that I might have briefly lost consciousness.

Listen, we were spinning upside down while hurling towards the desert at a scary speed and he wants to tell me I was awesome. Dude, you believe what you want to believe, I'm pretty sure I was freaked out.

Those are my notes from immediately after I jumped out of the airplane. Adrenaline pumping and sweating profusely. I didn't pass out but I was having so much fun I'm lucky I remembered to breathe.

Description of Sky Combat Ace Las Vegas:
You’ll fly in a Extra 330LC that is equipped with controls both in front and in back in order for you to take control of the plane. Oh, YOU WILL FLY THE PLANE. Right about the time you feel the plane tumble you think about just how easy will it be to grab the bag and empty the contents of your stomach. It's at that point that the pull of gravity distracts you and you look at the horizon.

In hindsight I really wish I would have pushed the envelope a bit more. At the end of our flight "Tex" said, go ahead have fun, it's an E300 you can't make it do anything that we have not tried. Maybe I should have tried another “Immelman” or tumble or an inverted spin with a back flip and a periwinkle.

I don’t know what those crazy turns and flips were called I lost track of the instructions as we flipped and spun all across the Southern Nevada sky. He might have been making up names for all I know. What I do know is that as long as I agreed he continued to test the limits of my equilibrium and my ability to stay conscious.

I also know that I have never experienced something as fun as this attraction in Las Vegas.

Is Sky Combat Ace Safe?
They don’t need me to explain safety simply because the staff there is insanely talented and understand customer service to a level that is beyond what you would normally expect anywhere. However, the first thing you notice at Sky Combat Ace is the approach to making sure you feel like you have a good idea of the experience you are about to embark on. The pilots brief you on what will happen but they do more of a job of making you feel like they have it together. There is a sense of confidence you get knowing that these pilots have plenty of experience and really know the planes they are flying.

How Much Does Sky Combat Ace Las Vegas Cost?
Different experiences come at a different price. I took part in the Top Gun experience at $599. You get to fly a plane with a trained flight instructor who will make sure you have so much fun you'll be dazed afterwards. It is an experience that must be on your bucket list.
