Considered one of the world's most romantic resorts, the Four Seasons Bora Bora played host to Sports Illustrated 2016 Swimwear Edition models. When they weren't posing provocatively and brushing sand off, they shopped for Tahitian pearls and chilled in private overwater bungalows at the resort. It's an expensive place in a far away destination (think: long flight), but those who've been say it's absolutely worth it.
Casa de Campo in SI's 2016 Swimsuit Edition
A world unto itself, Casa de Campo is the complete vacation experience. Encompassing nearly 7,000 acres in the Dominican Republic, it offers 63 holes of golf, its tennis facilities are known as the Wimbledon of the Caribbean, and it even has an equestrian facility and weekly polo matches from November through May.
Slightly more than a two-hour flight from Miami, the colossal resort’s variety of recreational activities is unmatched in the Caribbean… and most likely elsewhere in the world. The daily activity program offers everything from ziplining above the rainforest to merengue lessons. And no one’s locked into one sport or another; there’s always more to experience in this verdant spot bracketed by the Caribbean Sea and the Chavón River.
For the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition models, it's the beach that beckons: Those who revel in watersports head to Minitas Beach. Pristine Catalina Island in a nature preserve is reached by catamaran. Chaises and shaded loungers dot its sugary sands and snorkelers explore coral reefs close to the pier. Playita, the private-island beach, can be rented for complete seclusion.

Malta's Corinthia Hotel St. George's Bay in SI's 2016 Swimsuit Edition
A sun-splashed Mediterranean Sea archipelago that lies between Sicily and the North African coast, Malta hosted the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition crew in 2016. When they weren't shooting, they explored the network of catacombs that runs under the city that provided refuge from invaders who tried to claim Malta for their own.
The 5-star Corinthia Hotel St. George's Bay hosted the crew. Although Corinthia Hotels are not well known in the United States, they are elegant and sophisticated hostelries with award-winning restaurants and a refined afternoon tea service. This property is the second in the brand to have a Maltese location.
The Corinthia Hotel St. George's Bay maintains Sun & Fun Water Sports and Yacht Charter centre and a Starfish Diving School, enabling visitors to make the most of their surroundings.
Petit St. Vincent Featured in SI's 2016 Swimsuit Edition
If you were going to photograph models wearing nothing but body paint, the privately owned Petit St. Vincent in the Grenadines in the southern Caribbean would be an ideal location.
In addition to the 115-acre island’s beckoning beaches and natural beauty, it has 22 freestanding cottages without TVs, phones or wi-fi, but with an ample supply of privacy and attentive service.
Bahamas Featured in SI's 2016 Swimsuit Edition
The Sports Illustrated crew chose Grand Exuma, one of the out islands of the Bahamas, for a shoot and took over Bougainvillea House. Overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, the house is ideal for a destination wedding. It can accommodate 10-18 adults in the main villa and garden cottage. Together they have seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms and three kitchens and private chefs are available upon request.
Zanzibar Featured in SI's 2016 Swimsuit Edition
A destination as exotic as its name, the islands of Zanzibar lie in the Indian Ocean 20 miles from the coast of Tanzania. Pristine beaches that appear endless provided the background for the Sports Illustrated 2016 swimsuit models and crew.
They stayed at Kichanga Lodge, which consists of thatched-roofed bungalows with rustic charm. Even the lodge's spa is located inside a wooden hut. For a honeymoon couple, it's an ideal beach getaway that you can easily combine with a Tanzania safari experience.
