For many people, shopping for gifts and decorations is a treasured part of any Christmas holiday season. Major gift shows, held in large public venues, are a festive way to enjoy the season while accomplishing your Christmas shopping goals. Live entertainment, tasty treats, locally-produced food and drink products, and handcrafted items are an important part of such events. The Seattle/Tacoma region offers many special gift shows, bazaars, and events. Here are some recommendations:

Victorian Country Christmas Festival
The Victorian Country Christmas Festival, held each year at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center, is a huge Victorian-themed marketplace. You'll have the chance to shop for unique and hand-crafted gift items as well as enjoy a variety of holiday entertainments and activities. Many of the Puyallup fairgrounds favorite food vendors are in operation during Victorian Country Christmas.

Tacoma Holiday Food & Gift Festival
Held in late October at the Tacoma Dome, the Tacoma Holiday Food & Gift Festival is one of the first major holiday gifts shows in the Northwest. Plan to spend a few hours strolling among the hundreds of booths offering unique arts and crafts items, gourmet foods, and unique giftware. You'll be able to enjoy live entertainment throughout the day, including a singing Christmas tree.

Urban Craft Uprising
This independent crafters showcase hosts their winter show just in time for holiday gift hunting. Jury-selected vendors offer everything from crafted items to food products. This Urban Craft Uprising show is free to the public, with donations of $1 or more recommended. It takes place at Seattle Center, while you're there you can enjoy Winterfest and other holiday festivities.

Molbak's Garden & Home
A day trip to Molbak's nursery in Woodinville is always worth it, doubly so at Christmas time. During the holiday season, Molbak's puts on a spectacular display that includes a huge selection of gift items, live and artificial trees, wreaths, bows, lights, and thousands of ornaments. They also feature dozens of different varieties of poinsettias in colors ranging from red and pink to apricot and white. You can attend free seminars and register for workshops where you'll learn how to create wreaths, centerpieces, and other festive seasonal displays. Their garden store offers indoor and outdoor plants, containers, and garden statuary. Molbak's also has a fantastic gift store filled with unique home furnishings, bath and body items, and other gift items. You'll have a chance to enjoy live holiday music and Santa visits during Molbak's holiday season, check their website for the line-up and schedule.
