Each year the Scottsdale Culinary Festival attracts all kinds of food lovers to dine, sample and enjoy food and beverages from both local and nationally acclaimed chefs. There are picnic-style festivals, competitions, fancy fundraisers -- an attraction for every kind of food lover. While the Great Arizona Picnic is the casual, family-friendly and best-attended daytime event, there is a variety of specialty events for adult food and wine lovers during this highly anticipated culinary festival.

When is the Scottsdale Culinary Festival?

There are various events scheduled from January through April. The most popular and best-attended of the events is the Scottsdale Culinary Festival Weekend (formerly known as the Great AZ Picnic) and the Southwest Festival of Beers, both of which take place on the same dates at the same location. In 2017, those dates are April 16 and 17.

Chocolate & Wine Experience
Date/time: Friday, January 27, 2017
Location: The Saguaro Scottsdale, 4000 N. Drinkwater Blvd, Scottsdale
What it's about: chocolate creations from some of the Valley’s best pastry chefs paired with unique wines from around the world. Some MIM exhibits will be open. 21+ only.
How much it costs: in advance $60 + fee per person; $75 per person at the door

Barrel & Board
Date/time: Thursday, February 23
Location: Soho63, 63 E Boston St., Chandler
What it's about: beer, cheese and whiskey. 21+ only.
How much it costs: in advance $50 + fee per person; $60 per person at the door

Burger Battle
Date/time: Thursday, March 9
Location: Scottsdale Waterfront at Southbridge
What it's about: some of the best chefs and restaurants will compete. Guests will have the chance to taste and vote for the burger with the best bite. 21+ only.
How much it costs: in advance $65 per person; $75 day of event; $85 VIP

The Cocktail Society
Date/time: Friday, April 7
Location: Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
What it's about: Cocktail Society soiree for an exclusive collection of libations and food, live entertainment, and surprises. 21+ only.
How much it costs: $85 per person in advance, $100 at the door, $125 VIP

Scottsdale Culinary Festival Weekend
(previously known as The Great AZ Picnic)

Date/time: Saturday, April 8 from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday, April 9 from noon to 6 p.m.
Location: Scottsdale Civic Center
What it's about: This is the largest, public event of the Scottsdale Culinary Festival. It is family-friendly. How much it costs for each day: $12 online in advance, $15 per person at the door. Children under 12 receive free admission. Food, beverages and specialty tent areas are not included in Picnic admission. VIP experiences and Beer Garden tickets are available. (21+ only) 

Best of the Fest
Date/time: Sunday, April 9
Location: Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort at Gainey Ranch
What it's about: The festival finale is a five-course, wine-paired dinner created tableside by one of eight of Arizona’s top chefs. 21+ only
