But back to oru subject, Sara Liss. Where in the world is she at this moment? That, I cannot tell you. But it could be anywhere, because, this well-regarded and avidly followed Miami journalist has been everywhere. Sara had a New England upbringing in Worcester, Massachusetts, an old city in the center of the Bay State. She admits to harboring a nostalgic affection for New England's distinctive accent, which you can hear in the speech of her fellow Worcester townie Geoffrey Zakarian, the nine-time winner of Top Chef.

Sara grew up traveling abrtoad with her family. She became used to visiting cousins who lived all over the world. Israel was a regular vacation destination in the Liss family, and Sara speaks fluent Hebrew, just like Natalie Portman. As it happens, Sara is actually trilingual, being at ease in the Farsi language, which is spoken in Iran and is also called Persian.

You see that what we are dealing with here is an adventurous teenager. So it will be no surprise to learn that as a teenager, Sara elected to a year off between high school and college. And where did she jet off to? To Israel, where she felt as home. Her gap year, says Sara, involved "hitchhiking through the Judean Desert, hanging out with Israeli neo-hippies, and eating way too many borekas at Jerusalem's Mahane Yehuda farmers' market," she says. "It's safe for me to say I developed my wanderlust that year."

Back in the U.S., Sara attended Barnard College, the women's college of Columbia University in New York City's Morningside Heights section. Sara now lives in Miami with her husband and three children, and travels the world both as a solo journalist on assignment and as a family.

Sara's serious journalism jobs have taken her back to the Middle East. In this houthouse of news developments, she was a reporter for the Associated Press's Jerusalem bureau and also for Time Out Istanbul.

Sara is now the editor of UrbanDaddy Miami, a daily email magazine. She writes a dining column for Miami.com and the Miami Herald called First Look, in which she writes about dining, and nightlife establishments -- restaurants, bars, clubs, hotels, stores -- that have just opened in the Big Orange. Sara's punchy articles are avidly discussed by Miami trend followers and admired by other writers for their clever and appealing copy style.

Sara's many articles on the Miami dining and design scenes are published in local and national media including Miami Modern Luxury, 944 Magazine, Florida Travel + Life, Home Magazine, and others. As if she weren't busy enough, Sara maintains the South Florida lifestyle blog AllPurposeDark.

This won't be a surprise to hear, either. Sara is quite the social butterfly and loves getting together with other Miami trendsetters. She founded and co-hosts a much talked-about, home-based dining around. The idea is: the group converges regularly at one member's residence, where the member has prepared a meal in the style of cooking that the group is devoted to. And that cuisine is Middle E astern, particularly Persian food, which is aromatic with Silk Road spices and deliciously sweet with raisins and dates.
