A Brief History of Auto Club Speedway of California
Auto Club Speedway of California, formerly known as California Speedway, was conceived by auto racing magnate Roger Penske and Kaiser Steel to be constructed on the grounds of the former Kaiser Steel Mill in 1994. NASCAR approved major races to be held at Auto Club Speedway before ground was even broke and the track saw its first NASCAR sanctioned race in 1997 and has been hosting major NASCAR races since. The track is currently a two-mile D-shaped oval.

Infield and off-site camping near the track are not for everyone. There are several nearby RV parks decked out in amenities, here are three of the best.
Rancho Jurupa Park, Riverside, CA
Rancho Jurupa Park is a public park that is full of amenities and facilities on top of local activities. There are many sites so you can choose a site for dry camping or a site outfitted with full utility hookups, including sewer. You have plenty of clean bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities to keep everything clean. Other amenities and activities at Rancho Jurupa Park include Wi-Fi access, splash pad, onsite fishing, mini-golf, and playgrounds. A great RV park for the whole family less than ten miles from Auto Club Speedway.

San Bernardino RV Park, San Bernardino, CA
San Bernardino RV Park is another great RV park located within ten miles of Auto Club Speedway of California. Concrete sites come with a patio, and lush and well-maintained grounds surround full utility hookups. You, of course, get the basic facilities such as restrooms, showers, and laundry. The entire RV park is gated for 24/7 security so you can feel safe while heading to the race. Terrace Village RV Park, Grand Terrace, CA
Terrace Village RV Park is a full-service RV park, constantly improving their accommodations for NASCAR fans and others visiting throughout the year. Featuring a rec room, security, and welcoming to your four-legged friends, this RV park is the perfect charming place to call basecamp during race weekends. Terrace Village is about a 25-minute drive from the race track, so plan to leave early to ensure you beat the crowds to cheer on your favorite drivers.
Tips and Tricks for RVing to Auto Club Speedway of California
- You cannot exit and re-enter Auto Club Speedway with your RV until after events are concluded so make sure you have everything you need before you enter or bring an extra vehicle (vehicle passes come with your site pass.)
- Make sure you know what gate you are supposed to enter through.
- For an extra $100 you can get a “front of the Line” pass that allows you to priority entry.
- Check out the track’s inbound traffic plan to find the best route.
- Hard-sided coolers and glass bottles are not allowed within Auto Club Speedway.
- You are not allowed to bring your alcohol to Auto Club Speedway.
- Check to make sure any bags or items you’re bringing meet Auto Club’s guidelines.
