When it comes to dining out, you'll find some gems hidden away in quiet St. Louis neighborhoods. One such spot in Russell's on Macklind in the Southampton neighborhood. It's a favorite of those living nearby and is growing in popularity with visitors and residents from across St. Louis.

Russell's is a casual cafe and bakery that offers high-quality seasonal food. It's located at 5400 Murdoch in south St. Louis. It's open Tuesday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Russell's has both indoor and outdoor seating and can accommodate larger groups with advanced notice. A Dining Experience

Your experience at Russell's will be different depending on what time of day you go. Breakfast and lunch are a casual affair with a menu of fresh, but simple, dishes like egg wraps, salads and sandwiches. There's also freshly-brewed coffee and mimosas on Sundays. You'll see more families and children dining at Russell's during the day.

In the evenings, the restaurant takes things a bit more upscale. The tables are covered with white linens and candles for a more intimate dining experience. The dinner menu features additional entrees like crab cakes, pork chops and ribeye. There is also a nice selection of wine and beer. Russell's in the evening makes a great first-date spot.

An Emphasis on Quality

No matter what time of day you dine at Russell's, the one thing that doesn't change is the quality of the food. The cafe sources local products whenever possible and cooks them at the highest level. From the made-from-scratch biscuits offered at Sunday brunch, to the roasted chicken on the dinner menu, it's all good at Russell's.

Don't Miss Dessert!

Whatever you do, don't leave Russell's without trying something from the dessert case. There is always a tempting array of sweets including gooey butter cake, giant cookies, cupcakes, brownies and more.
