RM Sotheby's Auctions is one of several auction companies that conduct a classic car auction in Arizona each January.
Beginning as a car restoration company in 1976, RM Sotheby's Auctions has grown into a well-respected investment-grade collector car auction company, offering the finest motor cars to a discerning clientele. Collectors and admirers of vintage automobiles flock to Arizona each winter, and RM Sotheby's Auctions is high on the list of must-attend classic car auctions.
In 2015 the most valuable automobile sold in Arizona auction history was sold here: a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM that sold for US$9,625,000. A 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster that sold for $9.9 million in 2016 represented a new benchmark for any automobile sold in Arizona auction week history. When all was done, 17 lots broke the million-dollar mark.

How much does it cost to attend the auction?
Previews are open to the public at no charge. You must be a registered bidder to attend the auction. Aside from typical registration requirements, like identification and a bank guarantee or credit card authorization, bidders pay a fee which includes the catalog and admission for two people. You can register to be a bidder online for bidding at the auction, by phone or via the Internet.
How do I know what kinds of cars will be auctioned?
This year's sale features more than 100 motor cars, from pre-war classics through to important sports and racing cars and contemporary supercars. Leading up to the sale, the grounds of the Biltmore will play host to the Arizona Concours d’Elegance.
You can see all the vehicles offered online. You can also order the catalog (which is also your ticket to get into the event). If you order the catalog online, and you intend to come to either the preview or the auction, don't forget to bring your catalog with you!
What does "without reserve" mean?
The term "without reserve" means that there is no minimum required bid for that vehicle. The auctioneer will sell the vehicle to the highest bidder. At this auction, some vehicles are auctioned without reserve and some are not.
What else should I know about attending RM Auctions?
During preview days, you are welcome to walk around and take a look at all the vehicles that will be auctioned. You may take photographs.
Is there a vendor show or entertainment at this event?
No, you won't find memorabilia, trinkets or toy cars here. There's no nightclub or entertainment. Just classic cars. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
Do you have pictures?
Yes. These pictures were taken at a previous Phoenix sale, and will give you an idea of what you have to look forward to.
