If you want to let someone else do the cooking on Thanksgiving, you have several choices of restaurants that are open on Thanksgiving in the Detroit area. You'll find something to please your palate from buffets to traditional dinners with all the trimmings. Many of these places get booked up quickly; call to find out if there are reservations left and if there are not at the place you prefer, get on a waiting list. Several of these restaurants also offer Thanksgiving to-go if you'd rather not cook but want to eat this most traditional of feasts at home.

The Rugby Grille at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham offers an elegant four-course prix-fixe Thanksgiving menu from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.  Although the 2018 menu hasn't been released yet, past entree choices have included wild salmon, cider-brined turkey, and prime rib. The cost is usually around $80 per person.

The Moose Preserve

The Moose Preserve in Bloomfield Hills offers both its regular menu and a special Thanksgiving menu. The Moose Preserve is taking reservations for Thanksgiving, or you can do call-ahead seating or just show up and take your chances.

Ernie's in Clinton Township offers an all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving buffet from 12:30 to 7 p.m. for $31.95 for adults and $12.95 for children 5 to 11.  Or you can get Thanksgiving to-go from Ernie's for $209.95 if you'd rather eat at home.

The Vintage House in Fraser hosts two seatings for Thanksgiving dinner at noon and 4 p.m. Cost is $22.95 for adults and $13.95 for children ages 5 to 10. The huge menu includes turkey, roast beef, and ham; sides like stuffing, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and penne rigate with meat sauce; jellied cranberries; and a host of holiday desserts. You can also get Thanksgiving to-go for $299.95 that will serve turkey and all the trimmings to 15 to 20 guests.

Golden Fox and Fox Classic

The Golden Fox and Fox Classic at Fox Hills Golf Club in Plymouth both offer a Thanksgiving Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Golden Fox brunch is $36.95 for adults and $12.95 for children 3 to 12. The Fox Classic brunch is $29.95 for adults and $10.95 for children 3 to 12. The Golden Fox brunch offers breakfast choices and traditional Thanksgiving turkey and sides, along with other entrees, carving board meats, large salads, seafood, and a wide choice of desserts. The Fox Classic brunch is an abbreviated version of the Golden Fox's, and there are no breakfast items on the menu.

Eddie V's in Troy is an elegant seafood restaurant, but on Thanksgiving Day it will be serving a more traditional menu. Expect some seafood nevertheless. If you'd rather skip the regular Thanksgiving feast, the regular menu, and it's a bountiful one, will also be available. Thanksgiving dinner is $39 for adults and $15 for kids.
