Sharing a meal before or after a Cleveland theater performance is an integral part of the whole Playhouse Square experience. Even better, if you can find a restaurant where you don't have to move your car between the meal and the play. Playhouse Square is currently experiencing a restaurant renaissance. All of the eateries below are within walking distance of the theaters.
Cowell and Hubbard
Located in the former Cowell and Hubbard jewelry store space at 13th and Euclid, Cowell and Hubbard restaurant is the fifth Cleveland eatery from one of the area's best chefs, Zack Bruell (of Parallax, L'Albatros, Table 45 and Chinato fame.)
The restaurant, which opened in 2012, features a varied menu that combines Bruell's bistro favorites with a large selection of fresh fish and seafood and even designer pizzas and noodle dishes. There's even a happy hour menu from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and after 9:00 p.m. Cowell and Hubbard serve lunch and dinner daily, except for Mondays.
Cibreo Italian Kitchen
Cibreo, the brainchild of Chris Hodgson and Scott Kuhn, opened in the fall of 2013. The restaurant specializes in Italian, Tuscan cuisine with entrees like pork osso bucco, gnocchi with porcini mushrooms and carbonara chicken. Cibreo is open for lunch Monday through Friday and for dinner nightly.
Hofbrauhaus
Located behind the Playhouse Square theaters, where the Hermit Club used to be, the new Hofbrauhaus brings a little bit of Munich to the heart of Cleveland.
